ambientwavesmusic This is such a beautiful album. It reminds me of some the works from Philip Glass, Max Richter, Nils Frahm, Ludovico Einaudi and the likes. I've only get to here four tracks in the preorder and love them all.

about

Starting April 7th one track will be released a week.
Complete album release date June 2nd.
Sheet Music Release Date June 2nd.

A Beautiful Darkness is John Driftmore's second contemporary classical solo piano album. John's unique emotional style takes you through a journey from quiet introspection to deeply intense moments of personal reflection. A Beautiful Darkness is setting the stage for a new way of experimentation with classical works in a modern way. A Beautiful Darkness holds a resemblance to Beethoven, Chopin, Philip Glass and Max Richter.

John first started composting A Beautiful Darkness before the devastating fires in Sonoma County, California in 2017 and he finished the album during the COVID lock down in 2020 and 2021. The album name, A Beautiful Darkness, perfectly describes the transformation of darkness into light that we all must take. The album takes you through a journey deep into the darkness and then transforms it into light.

After hearing John's music, legendary artist and Sonoma County resident Stanley Mouse, who created the album artwork for The Grateful Dead, The Doors and Journey, offered to create the album artwork for A Beautiful Darkness. Stanley and John teamed up and went through a two-year exploration and evolution to create the cover artwork.
In addition to being a contemporary classical composer, John serves as a concert piano technician in San Francisco. John has worked and trained in the New York Steinway factory and the Vienna Bösendorfer factory. Having serviced pianos in top concert halls and recording studios, John's client list includes well-known, Grammy award-winning classical pianists to legendary jazz maestros.

about

John Driftmore San Francisco, California

John Driftmore is a contemporary classical composer whose work resides perfectly with the likes of Philip Glass, Max Richter, Nils Frahm and Ludovico Einaudi. With a heavy emphasis on minimalist and neoclassical piano composing, John's work has been quoted to be hauntingly beautiful and deeply compelling. If there was ever a possibility for music to heal, John's introspective is an avenue for it. ... more
